LIST OF ISSUES
"I was blessed with outstanding role models and mentors in my formative years, who inspired me to become a community leader. I want to be a voice of compassion and empathy in our state legislature. Idaho needs leaders who can create opportunities for all people to thrive by increasing wages, adequately funding education, and improving the health and safety of our community members. Work with me to illuminate Idaho with integrity!" Ydalia Yado
Education

All Idahoans deserve a quality education from preschool to post-secondary. State legislators need to fund education adequately and work with their constituents to ensure all students have access to an excellent education throughout the state. All students and educators need to have equal access to resources and opportunities regardless of their background.

Idaho needs to put students first. Ydalia knows first-hand that a quality free, public education has the power to transform the lives of individuals, families, and communities.

In addition to adequately funding public preschool through high school education, Idaho needs to make pubic college and workforce development training affordable for all Idahoans including Dreamers.

Moreover, in order for public schools to retain quality educators, the legislature must work towards paying Idaho educators fairly. As an educator, herself, Ydalia understands the struggles teachers, paraprofessionals, adjunct professors and other educators face to maintain economic security. She strongly believes that paying educators an honest salary will help retain qualified educators in Idaho's public school system.

Ydalia was raised in Caldwell, Idaho's Farmway Village community where she worked as a tutor for the Caldwell School District, alongside her Godmother Sister Bernadette Stang, during her junior and senior years of high school. She feels proud and humbled to have the opportunity to teach in the same district she graduated from.

Economy

Idaho legislators need to protect Idaho's working class citizens by advocating for a fair minimum wage. Ydalia Yado believes that all Idahoans deserve to have economic security. One way to do this is to provide every worker with an honest wage. The minimum wage needs to account for the increase in cost of living including the rise in child care costs and day to day expenses. Hard working Idahoans deserve an opportunity to prosper!

Many immigrants come to Idaho because they want to live in safe place with economic security. Idaho gives them this opportunity and they give back to Idaho daily. Idaho has thousands of undocumented immigrants living in our communities, with their help Idaho has been prosperous in the agriculture industry, an industry that has trouble retaining workers because of the working conditions and wages. Additionally, Idaho undocumented immigrants pay taxes but do not get tax incentives because of their legal status. Giving undocumented immigrants the opportunity to purchase driver's license, gives them another opportunity to help stimulate Idaho's economy and keep Idaho's roads safe.

Tax cuts are not always the best solution to improving our economy. The equitable payment of taxes is a patriotic act that helps stimulate our economy by distributing resources to individuals and communities in need; hence, creating prosperity for all!

Healthcare

Healthcare is a human right. All Idahoans, regardless of their socio-economic status, ought to have equitable access to healthcare. Many Idahoans do not utilize preventative measures because they cannot afford health insurance. Ydalia will advocate for universal healthcare laws in the state of Idaho in order to provide all Idahoans the care they deserve.

Environment

Idahoans are stewards of their ecosystem. As a conservationist, Ydalia commits to protecting Idaho's air, water, and land. Ydalia will work vigorously to protect Idaho's way of living by calling for stronger regulations that ensure clean and healthy resources for future generations.

Human Rights

Ydalia believes that in order for Idaho to thrive, Idaho leaders must embrace diversity and strive to be culturally competent. She would like to encourage Idahoans to examine the intersectionality of their identities to better understand their privileges and vulnerabilities. She is confident that once Idahoans understand their privileges, they will have the power and energy to transform Idaho together.

In Idaho, the LGBT community is one of the most vulnerable communities; therefore, Idaho ought to have laws that protect members of the LGBT community. One way to do this is to ADD THE WORDS "sexual orientation" and "gender identity" to the Idaho Human Rights Act (IHRA). Ydalia will work hard to protect Idahoans who identify as LGBT. When Ydalia was a senior at Seattle University, she earned the OUTstanding Ally Award during the annual Lavender Celebration for her commitment to the LGBTQ community. She promises to continue to be an advocate.

Idaho’s elderly, immigrants, veterans, low-income families, and other vulnerable community members must also be protected. Ydalia vows to address the needs of these community members and do everything in her power to protect them.
